Track III:
Intellectual Property - Rights vs. Implications of Technology
Innovation - from UGM to P2P - Understanding the Legal March of History
Content is at the
core of the problem. It’s not just music and the Net anymore, now it’s about
content, video, audio text, rights of the individual – in a cross-platform
universe of DVD, TV, Cable, Broadband, Mobile and the Net. Protecting your
Intellectual Property is at the forefront of both the bottleneck of what keeps
content from the consumer as well as at the crux of what will make the system
work for all parties in an agreeable revenue sharing model.
Rich Jorgensen, Director of Marketing for BayTSP will be speaking at the event – more information is available at Digital Hollywood

BayTSP launches comprehensive digital fingerprinting and watermarking solution to provide greatly increased protection of IP.
BayTSP creating fingerprint repository as an open architecture platform for user-generated content sites that use filtering technology to prevent misuse of intellectual property.
LOS GATOS, CALIF., August 8, 2007 – BayTSP today announced a Content Authentication Platform that provides digital content owners with a one-stop shop to incorporate digital fingerprinting and watermarking technologies to protect and monetize their intellectual property.
Key to the platform is a fingerprint library, maintained by BayTSP, that can be accessed by user-generated content sites like YouTube using proactive content filtering to determine user uploaded content includes copyright infringing material.
Four of BayTSP’s entertainment industry clients have begun creating fingerprints for their movie and television properties. Other media companies will begin providing content in the coming weeks. BayTSP is also in discussions with other fingerprint and watermark technologies developers to integrate their technologies into the platform.
“The Content Authentication Platform integrates the Internet crawling and indexing technologies we’ve developed and refined through our work providing online intellectual monitoring and enforcement services, to movie studios, record labels, software developers and videogame companies,” said BayTSP CEO Mark Ishikawa. “For user-generated content sites that are serious about protecting against copyright infringement, this platform offers the most comprehensive, cost effective and scalable method for pre-screening content before it goes public.”
The platform allows content owners to establish business rules determining where and how their content can be used. Video hosting sites that employ content filtering through the Content Authentication platform will know whether user-generated content meets the guidelines established by the content owner, greatly reducing the risk of posting copyright infringing material.
“Until now, content owners have been forced to police user-generated content sites for copyright violations,” Ishikawa said. “The Content Authentication Platform allows content owners and hosting sites to work together, respecting the rights of content creators and owners while still allowing hosting sites to encourage innovation and creativity among their users.”
